Apart from the Kai Sai Chau Public Golf Course (tel: 2791 3388) golf is mainly a club sport in Hong Kong which makes it difficult for visitors who do not know a member.

Visitors are only welcome mid-week, and in some cases only certain weekdays.

Green fees range from HK$1,200-1,400.

The Hong Kong Tourist Association (hotline 2508 1234) offers runs Sports & Recreation Tours.

Golf in Macau & China: It is almost easier to play golf in Macau (some 40 miles away across the Pearl River Estuary), Shenzhen (Hong Kong's neighbor across the border) or Zhuhai (Macau's neighbor) at times that in Hong Kong.

And it is not such a bad idea anyway. You get to see more of the world and of course get in a game or two of golf.

The Hyatt-Regency in Macau offers golf specials which combines golf in Zhuhai, about an hour away, with an overnight visit to Macau.

The Westin Resort on Coloane Island in Macau has an arrangement with it next door neighbor, the Macau Golf & Country Club. (See Macau Section.)

There are also golf tours to the clubs in Shenzhen. Check with any travel agent.
